Water.
It really is as simple as that. Water is what inspires my photography. I relish its movement, power, flow and reflective nature. My work as a photographer explores the water that surrounds me. From my sightings of shore birds during an early-morning paddle in my kayak to the trash I find during my walks along the beach, I consider the patterns, shapes, space, and reflection that the water reveals.
From my 20 years of working with swimmers on their stroke efficiencies and analyzing water patterns, I've always felt the pull of the water. When I left behind competitive swim coaching, I turned my eye, and my camera, toward the Chesapeake Bay, where I make my home. My images explore the fragility of this beautiful space as she reaches a critical moment. She suffers from pollutants both large and small. She is directly impacted by the rising seas of climate change. My work seeks to share the story of this beautiful and threatened place
